Zygmont C. Gorski, 96, a lifelong resident of Port Chester and former Chief of Police for the Port Chester Police Department died July 1, 2023. He was born March 3, 1927 in Port Chester to the late Zygmont and Josephine Fuss Gorski. He was raised and educated in Port Chester. Mr. Gorski enlisted in the United States Navy from 1945 to 1946 and served as a fireman first class on the USS Benham during World War II.He was married on November 11, 1962 to Marie Ponzo at Our Lady of Mercy Church in Port Chester. Mr. Gorski served on the Port Chester Police Department from 1950 to 1990 and retired as Chief of Police. He was a member of the Port Chester P.B.A. and a board member of the Port Chester Library.
Mr. Gorski is survived by his beloved wife Marie Gorski of Port Chester, NY, his devoted children Robert Gorski and his wife Louise of Greenwich, CT., Lynn Gorski and her partner Tracy Sweeney of Waterbury, VT., grandchildren Lauren Gorski and Jessica Gorski and several nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be 4-7PM at Craft Memorial Home, Inc. on Thursday July 6, 2023. Mass of Christian Burial will be 11AM on Friday July 7, 2023 at Saint Paul Roman Catholic Church 84 Sherwood Ave. Greenwich, CT. Interment to follow at Saint Mary's Cemetery North St. Greenwich, CT.
